Four Furloughs Unfathomable

The following statement is a response from Nancy Swindell, President AFSCME 2620, concerning Gov. Schwarzenegger’s latest plan to cut state services by 20%:

Schwarzenegger's Furlough: Schwarzenegger's Fiasco

''Schwarzenegger's Furlough Friday order should be renamed 'Schwarzenegger's Furlough Fiasco,' because that will be the result. Furloughing state employees, who provide critical, life saving services, will only accelerate California's financial freefall. Reducing the amount of time state employees can spend working to reduce crime and keep child care centers safe, puts California communities on a direct path toward disintegration, not stabilization.'' said Nancy Swindell, President AFSCME 2620.
